Adelaide Independent Taxi Services (AIT) was established in 1991, as the first and only taxi Co-operative in Adelaide. It is owned and run by a co-operative of taxi owners and operators making it wholly South Australian.

Today's Co-operative is trading as Adelaide Independent Taxis and Adelaide Independent Maxi Cabs, we have a taxi to meet your needs.

We are proud to offer our services to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a strong focus on safety, reliability, convenience and efficiency.

All our taxi operators are accredited by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure and conform in all aspects with the Passenger Transport Act 1994 and the Road Traffic Act 1961.

Heading off on a business trip or a much earned holiday break?

We advise that you book your taxi well in advance to prepare for your transfer to the Airport and always allow ample travel time.

Airline policy requires all passengers to arrive at least 60 minutes prior to their departure time.

Your flight details will help us get you there on time.

Please inform our staff if you are carrying more than 2 medium size suitcases and carry-on luggage with you.

Please note South Australian Taxi prices are regulated by The Department for Infrastucture & Transport.    

 Booking Fee:

Our business faces increasing costs due to the effects of high energy prices and inflation across all areas.

As a result of this, from midnight on the 19th September 2022, we will be introducing a $2.00 (including gst) booking fee to all bookings made by telephone, website and our app.

The booking fee is permissible under the Department for Infrastructure & Transport regulations and is stated on the Tariff Fare sticker located in each Taxi.

Hails do not attract a booking fee.

We value our local staff and the business and this change is necessary to ensure that we:

• Keep our call centre in SA and provide local service; &
• Be able to provide a better service to our customers;
• Maintain the right mix of costs between customer services, taxi operators and drivers.

We are focussed on maintaining good levels of service, supporting our community and ensuring that our Call Centre function, remains in SA.”

Safe: AIT drivers undergo a National Police Clearance and Medical Assessment prior to receiving their Taxi Drivers Licence. Our drivers have an exclusive PIN that is required to be entered at the start of each shift, display photographic identification, are smartly dressed, courteous, drive modern and clean taxis.

Reliable: AIT was the first taxi company in Adelaide to invest in highly advanced GPS dispatch technology. When you call AIT to request a taxi, the computer will automatically dispatch a taxi to you.

The South Australian Transport Subsidy Scheme (SATSS) was introduced in 1987 to provide subsidised taxi transport for people who have a severe and permanent disability that limits their mobility, in particular their ability to catch public transport. The aim of the scheme is to provide an accessible transport system to assist people with physical disabilities gain access to employment, education, community services and recreational activities.

Eligibility to the scheme is based on the applicant meeting one or more of the following mobility criteria:

• total and permanent dependence on a wheelchair
• severe permanent ambulatory problems resulting from paralysis or
• necessitating
• permanent use of large complex walking aids
• permanent inability to negotiate three bus steps 350 mm high
• permanent inability to sit in public transport without restraints
• unable to walk more than 100 metres without brief rests

The Official Adelaide Independent Taxis iPhone App for our customers in Adelaide (including surrounding towns) uses Adelaide Independent Taxis existing and successful Web Booker database. If you are an existing Web Booker customer there is no need to re-register.

As it is linked to your Adelaide Independent Taxis Web Booker account you have access to your history & favourite locations from your Web Booker account. Books your taxi directly into our dispatch system & jumps the often busy telephone queue when booking your cab.

You will also be able to see how far away your taxi is with our LIVE Tracking feature plus access to a number of automatic "on approach" notifications.

Taxi fare estimates are available when placing an order.

Book a taxi using the iHail function, which uses the iPhone built in GPS to determine your pickup point and if required you may further fine tune the map pin location determined by iHail by using the map presented location on the screen of your iPhone.

Adelaide Indpendent Taxis is registered and able to transport you under the NDIS Scheme, If you have engaged an external provider to manage your funds Adelaide Independent Taxis can assist you with your travel arrangements liaising with your plan manager or NDIS.
